Review: Maybelline Fit Me Anti-Shine Stick Foundation

Review:

So I have oily-combination skin and love trying out new base makeups that claim to keep me shine free all day especially on the T-zone area. While I'm not really a foundation "stick" person, I thought I'd give this a go anyway due to the small packaging and easy to travel with/carry around design.

First thing I noticed with this foundation stick is that this has a more creamy texture compared to other stick foundations where they can be harder and definitely requires blending with fingers as body temperature helps to 'melt' the foundation making it easier to blend. Due to the more creamy texture, I can easily blend with a brush which is the method I prefer!

This foundation stick gives a sheer to light/medium coverage - though I would discourage layering it on to try and create a higher coverage as it will look cakey. Even though it did initially keep me shine free, it doesn't last as long as other matifying foundations. This may be due to it's sheerer coverage where less powder is deposited so less powder to absorb the oils. However, it still did a pretty good job lasting around 3-5 hours depending what sort of day I've had. This also isn't an extremely long wearing foundation, it starts to fad around the same time it stops keeping my oils away, so definitely requires touching up.

Some positives that I've noticed is that it feels soooo lightweight you can barely feel it on your skin, and even though coverage isn't that high, it does even out my skin tone giving me a natural looking finish.

The 2 layer system seems a bit gimmicky to me and shade selection (6 shades available) leaves a lot to be desired, however, overall, this is a good foundation that I would recommend especially for those that just wants a light foundation to even out skin tone and not require a lot of coverage. Even though this is an anti-shine foundation, I think it's more suited for the oily/combination skin type than those with really oily skin.

Review:

So, I bought this when I visited IMATS London, and have used it constantly on and off since then. This is definitely one of my favourite high end foundations.

First of all, I love the packaging, it may not be to everyones taste and a few may even think the packaging should be more pleasing to the eye considering the price of the foundation, however, too me, it screams light, easy to travel, doesn't use up much room and easy to control the flow of foundation. With things like foundation where if I go away I definitely have to take, practicality over-rides beautiful glass bottle all the time!

Next, the actual foundation. This has a very watery consistency and is one of those that requires shaking before use. At first, because of the light consistency, I thought it would be a light coverage foundation. However, it definitely a medium coverage foundation that can be easily sheered down with a damp brush/sponge or built up to a medium-full coverage. It gives a mat velvet finish, not powdery looking at all, though it may seem powdery when first applied - give it a couple of minutes to settle and the powdery look disappears leaving a natural glow look. I have built up this foundation before to a higher coverage and noticed it still has a nice natural look and not cakey or thick at all.

This foundation does last a very long time, I'd say a good 10+ hours, and even though it doesn't keep all my oils from coming through, I look shiny at the most and never greasy. Saying that, after blotting away any unwanted shine with blotting tissue, the foundation still looks perfect underneath, so not touch up needed! A final positive is that because of the watery consistency of this foundation, when applied, it feels so light on my skin I barely notice it there - I don't feel like the foundation is suffocating me!

So overall, I'd definitely recommend this foundation, especially for those with oilier skin types. Yes the price is a little steep, but I do believe the price tag reflects the quality of the product!

Review: Too Faced Size Queen Mascara

Review:

First of all, like I said in the video, I'm glad I didn't see the size of the brush head at the back of the box otherwise I wouldn't have brought it! The brush head is massive! However, I'm really glad I did as I really like this mascara. The corkscrew shaped brush with the long and short bristles meant I could coat every single one of my lashes. The formula is not too wet, kept my lashes curled and didn't make my lashes feel brittle or dry, and there was no flaking.

I usually use one coat, maybe two if I was out for the evening, and that is more than enough to give me long volumous lashes. The wand separates my lashes well, and is really black. The effect is quite dramatic just after one coat, lasts all day with minimal smudges.

The only downside is, contradictory, the size of the wand as the large brush head meant I couldn't really get right into the roots to lift my lashes more. However, if the wand was smaller, I'm not so sure it would have the same effect, and if I love the mascara without using it to its full potential, I envy those who can!

So overall, do I recommend it?....definitely!

Review: Santhilea Magnetic Lash Extension Mascara

Review:

Right, so first off, I love how this mascara makes my lashes look. The 'magnetic mascara' gives a dark black glossy coating, separates and fans out the lashes - just with this my lashes looked more defined. While still wet, you need to dab the 'lash builder' onto the lashes - I tend to apply from the middle to the end of my lashes. This coat gives my lashes volume and length, and best of all leaves it looking feathery. Finally, you seal everything in with and another layer (or two) of the magnetic mascara and the finishing look is amazing. Fuller, longer fluttery lashes that looks dramatic but not overly so as I'd comfortable wear this out during the day!

The only niggle I still have with this mascara is the fall out from the lash builder. I see specks of fibre over my cheeks and nose throughout the whole day. Santhilea has kindly given suggestion on ways to prevent this: applying the lash builder from mid to end of lashes only, and seal with 2 coats of the magnetic mascara - both unfortunately I have been already doing. However, I love the look of my lashes so much with this mascara system that I may just persevere with it and maybe one day I'll figure it out!

Review: Giorgio Armani Master Corrector

Review:

Firstly, I have shade 2 apricot as I had finished my Bobbi Brown Corrector so needed another corrector for under my eyes. I've noticed the last year or two that I've started to have dark under eye circles (probable lack of sleep and bad diet) so had taken to using a corrector to help counter out this problem. I do like the Bobbi Brown corrector and have perfected using so much so that I have no problems with it whatsoever. However, I do know that many has found this corrector to be too heavy and creamy. So after hitting pan on this corrector, I thought I'd try the Giorgio Armani master corrector as there has been raving reviews on this!

So after initial use to now, I have to say, I love this corrector. It is very light but gives a good medium coverage blurring out my discolouration well, does not settle into fine lines due to its light texture, does not crease, move or disappear throughout the day. Those that has really dark circle may also need an additional concealer on top - and it is this you have to remember. Many people gets mixed up with concealers and correctors, using and expecting correctors to do the work of concealers, and I get asked many time to compare a corrector to a concealer which is not really possible as they are suppose to work differently to some extent. Correctors are only supposed to be applied to the discolouration area to balance it out.

The brush applicator is also very fine which allows a precise application on area needed, and I just blend it out with a brush sticking to my blueish area under my eye as much as possible!

Overall, I highly recommend this corrector, yes it is on the pricier side at £25, however, a tiny bit goes a very long way if used correctly to just counter-out discolouration. It is also a lot easier to use than the more creamer and heavier Bobbi Brown.

Review: Elizabeth Arden Prevage Clinical Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum

How to use:

Use on upper and lower lashes: Be sure eyes are clean and free of makeup. Apply every night with applicator brush to skin along lash line, from inner to outer corner.

Use on brows: Be sure brows are clean and free of makeup. Apply every night using the applicator, with short strokes on the desired areas of brows.

Review:

First of all, I have used this for over 3 months now and yes, I have definitely seen a difference to my lashes. Definitely use this for at least 2 weeks before making a judgement, as I only saw a difference when I hit the 2 weeks mark! My lashes are looking a lot healthier and darker, and I've actually seen quite a difference to the length and volume of my lashes - especially my lower lashes. Where, I barely had any lower lashes (or they were so thin I couldn't really see them!), they are now considerably longer and darker thus making them more obvious. Upper lashes, though effect not as dramatic as my lower lashes, I can still see that they are darker, glossier and marginally longer and thicker.

I have also been using this serum on my brows, however, to this day, I'm not sure that I've seen any changes to them, however, my problem has always been my lashes first, so I'm not too bothered that I haven't seen an effect in this area.

The wand is also great to use. Unlike the No7 lash serum wand, this Elizabeth Arden one is very fine making application very precise and you don't get serum oozing out when replacing the wand back in the tube so there is no wastage.

Overall, this has to be the best lash serum I've used so far, giving me obvious results. Would I recommend?...Definitely, especially if sparse and thin lashes is a problem to you. HOWEVER, this serum is very expensive. Yes, it works and results are great, but £85.00 just for your lashes seems very steep. I do love it but even I have to think about whether I can afford to repurchase something just for my lashes, and to keep my lashes looking this much better, it is definitely a lifetime purchase, as with all products like this, if you stop using it, chances are, your lashes will go back to it's original state!

Review: Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells Mascara

This mascara is suppose to give volume and length while nourishing and strengthening your lashes. I have used this mascara for 3 months, and find that it does subtly give volume and length making your own lashes look naturally darker and more defined i.e. your lashes but better! So nothing too dramatic. However, it did hold my lashes curled quite well which usually goes down well with me.

As for regenerated lashes?.... I would say my lashes did look healthier while using this mascara, again nothing too dramatic, but after applying the mascara, my lashes felt soft and not brittle or stiff at all, it is also really easy to remove so combined, probably saved a few of my lashes!

Smudge proof?....not for me. Though to be fair, I have really watery eyes, and did find transfer at the corner of my lower lash area.

So overall, high definition curves?....not so much. A good daily mascara that makes your own lashes look a lot better while somewhat taking care of them?....that's more like it! Would I recommend?....sure, for everyday wear when I want more nicer normal looking lashes, I can see myself using this one only because it is also suppose to look after my lashes as well. Yes, it does smudge a bit however, for someone who doesn't have watery eyes, it could work well for them. And lets be honest, we all need a "my lashes but nicer" mascara as it's not feasible to always have dramatic lashes at school, university, work or the local supermarket!

Review: L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

This solution feels as gentle as water on your skin but acts like a make-up remover, toner and skin soother all in one. Swiftly dissolving all traces of make-up, the 'micellar' solution acts like a purifying magnet on the skin's surface to capture and draw out excess oil and impurities rather than spreading them around your face like some wipes can.

Review:

I think in general, many people will probably compare this to the Bioderma, Vichy, La Roche-Posay etc versions of "Micellar Solutions". I have to say, this L'oreal one isn't bad. Removes makeup well, though had trouble removing all of my waterproof eye makeup, other waterproof makeup i.e. foundation etc was removed really well. I would say this compares well to other more expensive Micellar Solutions and at £3.33 for 200ml it is a real bargain. It left my skin clean without feeling dry, and has not broken me out at all.

Overall, this is a great cleansing water, and for those that hasn't tried this type of cleansing water before, this is definitely the brand to try first as it removes makeup really well and is inexpensive. However, for those that have tried other brands, and particularly for me who've been using Bioderma, I've found that there is just something about L'oreal's micellar solution that just doesn't cut it for me. I can't seem to put my finger on what it is, but for me, the Bioderma micellar solution beats the L'oreal one by a very tiny bit. Saying that, I can see myself buying and using L'oreal's one just because I can literally walk down the road and buy it from Boots!

Review:
A really good cleansing oil! I've used many (& when I say many I mean a ridiculous amount) different brands of cleansing oil - both high and drugstore brands and Asian brands as well which I highly prefer. So when I bought this, I already formed the opinion that it will be an ok cleansing oil but I would likely go back to my other brand cleansing oils. However, I am truly impressed by L'oreal's Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing oil. It removes makeup really well even waterproof makeup, though stubborn Asian brand waterproof mascara may still need to be removed beforehand then use this oil as a second cleanser for that. The formula is non-greasy, and can be easily washed off. It hasn't broken me out at all (which some really oily ones can), and leaves my skin feeling really clean without any feeling of dryness.

Overall, if your looking for a cleansing oil then I would say definitely give this one a try. At only £5.33 (& it is always on offer) I would class this as very inexpensive compared to other cleansing oils & work just as efficiently.

How to Use:

With your fingertips apply 2-3 drops onto dry skin, massaging over the lashes, lids and lips.

Then, rinse well with warm water.

Use morning and evening.

Review:

First off, I have sparse thin upper lashes and even sparser and thinner lower lashes, so whenever a product comes out claiming to make my lashes fuller and longer......I head straight for their counter!

I have used this serum for a good 4 months and wanted to share with you my thoughts on this products and how it worked on me.

Day 1 to 4: My lashes looked darker and healthier (and by healthier, they actually looked more shinier)

Week 2: Lashes looked glossy, upper lashes looks slightly lengthened, lower lashes looks darker

Week 4: Upper lashes still looks slightly lengthened (though not greater than week 2) and looks
slightly fuller. Lower lashes also looks longer though only slightly

(I did use on my brows but saw no difference in growth where I needed brows to grow!)

I've stopped at week 4 and thereafter, improvement to my lashes sort of reached a plateau. Like I said, I've used this for around 4 months as I did not want to use the serum after that length of time due to application being around eye area, and I thought I should treat it the same way as I do with mascara. Though saying that, I know quite a lot was left in the tube.

The only niggle I have with the product is the application brush. You apply this serum as you would say using a liquid liner. However, I found the brush way to big which meant it was quite messy to apply and I frequently got some serum into my eyes - which I do no advise at all cos it hurts like hell!! Also, when popping the brush back into the tube, loads of serum gets pushed out which means 1.Wasted serum and 2.Constant cleaning the opening of the tube.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with this serum. My lashes did look healthier and I did get a bit of volume and length, which I have to say made a difference to me! At £22.50, it can be classed as pricey for just a lash serum, however, after checking out other lash serums available, this price is pretty decent. Compared to prices and results of other lash serums I've tried, if I was to constantly repurchase one lash serum this one might be it based on price and results. Don't get me wrong, I've tried/trying others that work maybe better than this serum, but price of others means it not feasible to continually purchase, and for products like this, if you stop using, chances are, your lashes will go back to pre-serum condition.

How to use:

Step One - Cleanse the eyes of any make-up

Step Two - Use the applicator to apply a thin line of No7 Fanomenal Lash Serum to the base of the eye lashes along the upper and lower lash lines.

For best results, use the serum every night for at least 8 weeks.

Review: This is a really good light weight concealer, perfect for the winter months for those with oilier skin, and great all year round for those with dry skin. It gives a good medium to high coverage, easy to blend in and doesn't cake or look flaky as the day goes on. In fact, this is a great concealer for blemishes that has dry patches surrounding it, as this has a good hydrating formula. For those that only require coverage in certain areas of the face i.e. maybe just the centre of the face, and doesn't require full out foundation, this concealer can be used in replacement of a foundation (though can be costly after a while).

I also use this concealer under my eyes & find that it covers my dark circles well enough and doesn't crease or sink into my fine lines.

As I have oily/combination skin, this tends to be my go to concealer for all areas during the winter when the cold air & central heating can leave my skin a bit dry. As my skin tends to be a lot oilier in the summer months, this isn't a concealer I would choose as even though it feels really light as though I have nothing on, it is still a creamy concealer, so those with oily skin should be aware of this. However, as mentioned above, I think this would be a great concealer for those with dryer skin!

The pearlescent flesh-toned finish of Shades Naked, Devotion and Shy are perfect for highlighting the eyes, while the shimmering bronze hues of Shades Fiery, Lavish and Dreamy give a sultry effect. There are even smouldering contour tones in Shades Tranquil, Exposed and Wink so that you can transform your minimalist day look into a sexy smokey eye in an instant. Features a shade range that runs from the palest champagne to the grittiest gunmetal grey.

Starry Night:

Starry Night is a blend of shimmering blues, greys and pinks which are great for bolder looks.

Review: These shadows are really really good for the price you pay. While they are not the softest of shadows (though soft enough), they are still all highly pigmented & super blendable. Each palettes has so many shadow combinations to try, with 9.6g of each shadow, they really are value for money.

Two negative points I should mention, though not really a problem, is firstly there are fall out from the shadow. However, I have high end shadows that does alot worse so...... The second is the plastic packaging looks & feels really cheap, but that doesn't really affect the product, and shows that the £4.00 you're spending went mainly to the shadows themselves.

Each palette also comes with a double ended sponge applicator. I personally haven't used these but could be great in emergencies when you haven't got your makeup brushes with you?

All in all, you can't really go wrong with these shadows as they're hardly going to break the bank balance. I've also heard the Undress Me Too is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. I don't own the Naked 2, but from what I can see, they are pretty similar so definitely a bargin if your budget doesn't stretch that far!

Review: First of all, the brush head. I love the cone concept as the large back of the brush would be great for volumising the lashes & the front smaller end would be great for getting into the inner corner of the lashes. However, I found this mascara wand too big which made the larger end of the wand difficult to use without getting mascara all over the place, so I ended up using the smaller end of the wand to coat my main lashes. Needless to say, the smaller end of the wand was too big to coat my inner lashes, which sort of defeated the whole concept of the mascara wand. Though the bristles themselves were good, coating & separating my lashes wells without clumps.

I have to say I was disappointed with the volumising effect. It did make my lashes look thicker but not as thick as I was expecting considering the description given by lancome. Though I will concede that this may be due to not being able to use the wand to its full potential.

This mascara that I bought is also the none waterproof version, though I know they now have a waterproof version out, which may make my next point moot. This mascara smudged everywhere, and when I say everywhere, I had more on the corner of my eyes & below my lower lashes within an hour or two after application than I had on my lashes themselves. Like I said, I know this is not the waterproof one, but still, some still should stay on the lashes right? RIGHT? Instead, it melted and moved down my eyes which made me look like I'd been crying mess! & no, I was not wearing this in summer, it was in the middle of a freezing winter!

This mascara also took a long time to dry after application so you'll need to be careful and wait for it to dry before doing anything else. It also did absolutely nothing to help keep my lashes curled....at all. The scent is also really really bad, it has a strong chemical scent that lingers way too long, and I ended having to hold my breath while applying the mascara.

So all in all, my experience with this particular mascara is pretty bad. Granted, there has been great reviews out there about this mascara, but it just definitely not for me. I'd only used it a handful of times to give it as many chances as I could, but in the end, was such a waste as I just couldn't use it.

Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Foundation

This is a 15-hour wear foundation that gives a sheer to medium coverage & has a natural finish. As this foundation is being promoted to control oils, I was a bit worried it would give a very matte or chalky finish but it doesn't. Instead, I found that the initial application gave a sort of dry look but though out the day, the foundation adapted & gave a really nice natural healthy skin appearance, probably helped by the heat of the skin & saturation of my oils into the foundation. Even though my oils did show through about 4 hours into the wear, I found that using blotting sheets to remove the surface oils left the foundation intact underneath which meant I carried on having perfect coverage through out the day!

The foundation stayed put all day without looking patchy or disappearing, and found that it didn't transfer much either! Apart from MACs face & body foundation, I haven't used another that totally didn't transfer onto clothes etc, but this double-wear foundation came in close with only slight transfer. Also having used this foundation in heat & humidity, I can say that it definitely holds up well in those conditions!

The only negative point I can see is that this foundation does oxidise slightly, not a lot, but is still worth mentioning especially for those with paler skin in which the oxidisation may be more noticeable. However, as with most base makeup, the extent of oxidisation will depend on your own skin type and can differ greatly even between those who have the same skin type! So as usual, especially if you buy in the UK where we cannot return any sort of cosmetic products, always ask for a weeks sample to try! This is also doubly important if you have sensitive skin and/or prone to breakouts!

I really should also point out it has SPF of 10 which isn't that great but good for photos on days out etc!

Overall, I personally really like this foundation due to its light-weight texture and longevity on my skin. This foundation hasn't broken me out and gives me a nice sheer to medium natural looking coverage, which I think will be great in the summer months!

The foundation comes in 6 shades, I wear shade Intensity 2.0 (I'm currently MAC NC25-28), & costs £28.50 for 30ml.

Review: This is a really good gentle cleanser and I was amazed at how well it worked. Though I wouldn't use it alone to remove all makeup, it helped remove surface makeup before I deep cleansed with another cleanser (I always recommend double cleansing in the evenings!). Even so, after using this cleansing milk for a while, I noticed my skin looked brighter & clearer with fewer blackheads. This cleanser also left my skin feeling moisturised & not dry or taut after use and definitely recommend this to those with sensitive skin. It's also good to know that a little goes a long way so the bottle will last ages. There is an 'artificial' peach smell, but it's not overbearing & I actually quite like it, though it's not for everyone.

Overall, it's a cleanser I can see myself repurchasing. I love how it left my skin clean & clear without stripping it of moisture, and is a great cleanser for keeping blackheads away!

"A refreshing, skin de-stressing cleansing foam. Gentle Tamarind Fruit Acids free pores of trapped make-up, excess oil, pollutants and dull-making dead cells for a refined, matte complexion. Silky lather rinses easily with cool water. Protects skin from the drying effects of hard water."

I personally like this cleanser. It's definately a great cleanser for oily skin and good cleanser for those with combination skin (which I have). It does leave your skin feeling a bit dry after using so always moisturise as soon as possible after using, but it left my skin looking so clean and clear after that I am willing to ignore the dryness! It hasn't broken me out at all and dispite the feeling of dryness after using, it hasn't stripped my skin of its moisture or left me with any dry areas - BUT, I do moisturise well after use.

The 125ml tube lasted over 2 months, you literally need the smallest amount to lather up your whole face, so for the price of £18.00, it is relatively inexpensive. The small micro-beads were not harsh on the skin, the beads themselves were soft and not hard like some exfoliating cleanser, which means it makes a good everyday cleanser. I personally only used it in the evening as I don't think it's necessary to use such a cleanser in the mornings. It is a cleanser that I will probably re-purchase, and will definitely make a good cleanser for those with oily skin, especially in the summer.
