Description:

"Our fresh foundation has an anti-shine core.  Its' ultra-light formula is enriched with powders to instantly absorb excess oil.  Controls shine for a natural-looking, flawless finish.  Our first 2-in-1 foundation stick with anti-shine core goes on effortlessly to reveal flawless, lightweight coverage.  Easy to use and perfect for the on-the-go-touch ups."

Review:

So I have oily-combination skin and love trying out new base makeups that claim to keep me shine free all day especially on the T-zone area.  While I'm not really a foundation "stick" person, I thought I'd give this a go anyway due to the small packaging and easy to travel with/carry around design.

First thing I noticed with this foundation stick is that this has a more creamy texture compared to other stick foundations where they can be harder and definitely requires blending with fingers as body temperature helps to 'melt' the foundation making it easier to blend.  Due to the more creamy texture, I can easily blend with a brush which is the method I prefer!

This foundation stick gives a sheer to light/medium coverage - though I would discourage layering it on to try and create a higher coverage as it will look cakey.  Even though it did initially keep me shine free, it doesn't last as long as other matifying foundations.  This may be due to it's sheerer coverage where less powder is deposited so less powder to absorb the oils.  However, it still did a pretty good job lasting around 3-5 hours depending what sort of day I've had.  This also isn't an extremely long wearing foundation, it starts to fad around the same time it stops keeping my oils away, so definitely requires touching up.

Some positives that I've noticed is that it feels soooo lightweight you can barely feel it on your skin, and even though coverage isn't that high, it does even out my skin tone giving me a natural looking finish.

The 2 layer system seems a bit gimmicky to me and shade selection (6 shades available) leaves a lot to be desired, however, overall, this is a good foundation that I would recommend especially for those that just wants a light foundation to even out skin tone and not require a lot of coverage.  Even though this is an anti-shine foundation, I think it's more suited for the oily/combination skin type than those with really oily skin.

Description:

"The Mat Velvet + is a matifying liquid foundation that conceals skin imperfections, evens out the complexion and matifies with a non-oily powdery finish.  The result is flawless and lasts for hours long.  Its' smooth, fluid texture is very stable, water-resistant and long-lasting.  While it has a good coverage, it is also easy to apply.  The end result can be fitted to your needs.  Applied lightly, Mat Velvet+ provides a natural, matte look to the complexion.  Using several layers to help conceal blemishes creates a supple and elastic velvety finish.  This new oil-free and non comedogenic formula is suited to sensitive skins."

Review:

So, I bought this when I visited IMATS London, and have used it constantly on and off since then.  This is definitely one of my favourite high end foundations.

First of all, I love the packaging, it may not be to everyones taste and a few may even think the packaging should be more pleasing to the eye considering the price of the foundation, however, too me, it screams light, easy to travel, doesn't use up much room and easy to control the flow of foundation.  With things like foundation where if I go away I definitely have to take, practicality over-rides beautiful glass bottle all the time!

Next, the actual foundation.  This has a very watery consistency and is one of those that requires shaking before use.  At first, because of the light consistency, I thought it would be a light coverage foundation.  However, it definitely a medium coverage foundation that can be easily sheered down with a damp brush/sponge or built up to a medium-full coverage.  It gives a mat velvet finish, not powdery looking at all, though it may seem powdery when first applied - give it a couple of minutes to settle and the powdery look disappears leaving a natural glow look.  I have built up this foundation before to a higher coverage and noticed it still has a nice natural look and not cakey or thick at all.

This foundation does last a very long time, I'd say a good 10+ hours, and even though it doesn't keep all my oils from coming through, I look shiny at the most and never greasy.  Saying that, after blotting away any unwanted shine with blotting tissue, the foundation still looks perfect underneath, so not touch up needed!  A final positive is that because of the watery consistency of this foundation, when applied, it feels so light on my skin I barely notice it there - I don't feel like the foundation is suffocating me!

So overall, I'd definitely recommend this foundation, especially for those with oilier skin types.  Yes the price is a little steep, but I do believe the price tag reflects the quality of the product!

Review: Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser Oily/Combo skin

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser For Oily to Combination Skin:

Where to buy:
http://www.clarins.co.uk/Gentle-Foaming-Cleanser-with-Tamarind-%22Combination/Oily-Skin%22/C010104012,en_GB,pd.html?start=13

"A refreshing, skin de-stressing cleansing foam. Gentle Tamarind Fruit Acids free pores of trapped make-up, excess oil, pollutants and dull-making dead cells for a refined, matte complexion. Silky lather rinses easily with cool water. Protects skin from the drying effects of hard water."

I personally like this cleanser.  It's definately a great cleanser for oily skin and good cleanser for those with combination skin (which I have).  It does leave your skin feeling a bit dry after using so always moisturise as soon as possible after using, but it left my skin looking so clean and clear after that I am willing to ignore the dryness!  It hasn't broken me out at all and dispite the feeling of dryness after using, it hasn't stripped my skin of its moisture or left me with any dry areas - BUT, I do moisturise well after use.

The 125ml tube lasted over 2 months, you literally need the smallest amount to lather up your whole face, so for the price of £18.00, it is relatively inexpensive.  The small micro-beads were not harsh on the skin, the beads themselves were soft and not hard like some exfoliating cleanser, which means it makes a good everyday cleanser.  I personally only used it in the evening as I don't think it's necessary to use such a cleanser in the mornings.  It is a cleanser that I will probably re-purchase, and will definitely make a good cleanser for those with oily skin, especially in the summer.

Ingredients:
Gypsophila extract: helps create a fine, lightweight cleansing foam.
Cottonseed : softens.
Tamarind : refines, keeps pores clean.
Purifying Micro-Pearls : purify.
Bio-Ecolia, extracted from natural sugars, helps to preserve the skin's natural moisture balance.

Sensitive Skin 3: Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/tinaHL82

Description:

Cleanse your face of make-up and daily grime with our gentle yet effective, sulphate and petroleum free face wash to achieve a balanced, clean complexion without stripping away your skin’s natural moisture levels. We’ve blended soothing, balancing, deliciously fragrant grapefruit, petitgrain and frankincense essential oils with spruce knot extract to help improve and smooth the appearance of congested or problem complexions. Anti-oxidant rich moringa and rice bran oils help to brighten and polish the skin to leave it smooth and gently cleansed.
Smooth over face and neck, gently massaging wash in circular movements to dissolve make-up and grime. Close eyes and wipe carefully over lids and eye lashes, avoiding direct contact with eyes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Apply our balancing face moisturiser or radiance face oil after to give a soft, clean and glowing complexion.

My View on this Face Wash:  So really to summarise what I've said in this video, this is a really gentle cleanser that doesn't strip the skin or leave it dry after use.  This is one of the few cleansers I've used that leaves my skin quite moisturised!  I generally used this as a gentle morning cleanser as I've found that it's not very effective at removing makeup and such.  I've found it great in the mornings as it doesn't leave my skin looking red or required me to extra moisturise to get a good base before makeup.  The use of natural ingredients and essential oils also reassured me that I wasn't applying any un-necessary parabens or sulphates on my skin.  However, like I've mentioned in the video, this has a very strong scent.  I personally am not adverse to scents and perfumes in my skincare (though prefer not to have any), but even I found the scent of this cleanser overwhelming.    I understand that the scents are from the essential oils, but eventually resorting to holding my breath every morning to cleanse my face became very tiresome and not how I wanted to start my mornings!  I did persevere until I finished all of this cleanser, however, unless I have a major breakout that required me to take care of my skin for several months, I am reluctant to repurchase this.

Ingredients:
Aqua, Decyl glucoside, Lauryl glucoside, Oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, Glycerin, Xanthan gum, Modified potato starch, Moringa oliefera (moringa) oil, Citric acid, Abies picea (spruce knot) extract, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract***, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit)*, Boswellia carteri (frankincense)*, Citrus aurantium amara (petitgrain)*, Cymbopogon martini (palma rosa)*, Cananga odorata (ylang ylang)*, Anthemis nobilis (Roman chamomile)*, Benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, Dehydroacetic acid, Limonene**, Linalool**, Geraniol** *natural pure essential oil **naturally occurring in essential oils ***certified organic ingredient

NEW! - Garnier BB Miracle Skin Perfector Oil Free For Oily Combination Skin!

I was in Boots today and saw this, so thought I'd spread the word.  Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Garnier BB cream (finding it more a tinted moisturiser than anything near a BB Cream), however, I know many like this BB Cream so thought I'd let you know that they have brought out a new BB Cream for people with oily to combination skin - which I guess is better for the summer season.

Here is what Garnier says about their new BB Cream:

Our Oil Free BB cream blurs pores and imperfections, evens skin tones and boosts your natural glow. Moisturisers and contains SPF 20 for UV protection.
    • Ultra-absorbent perlite + mineral pigments
    • Non comedogenic
    • Oil-free texture
    • Dermatologically tested
Is Miracle Skin Perfector right for me?

Yes, if you have combination to oily skin and are looking for an all-in-one solution that immediately perfects your skin. The lightweight formula does it all; mattifies, reduces the appearance of imperfections, hydrates, evens skin tone, gives a healthy glow and protects with SPF 20.

How is this skin care different?

Miracle Skin Perfector is a B.B. (Blemish Balm) Cream - a next generation skincare product which uses an all-in-one technology. In one step, it combines the benefits of skincare with a light touch of make-up for immediately perfected skin.

    How does it work?
Its unique oil-free formula, with ultra-absorbent perlite is specially designed for oily skin and helps to control shine all day long. It effectively minimises the appearance of pores and imperfections for a visible improvement in skin texture. Enriched with mineral pigments, Miracle Skin Perfector immediately perfects the skin, covering imperfections. Its fluid texture, with an optimal coverage melts perfectly into the skin whilst the SPF 20 filter helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

    Results:

    Immediately*:
B.B. cream gives a radiant matt finish for 88% of women
Pores appear less visible for 84% of women
Imperfections (redness, spots, acne marks...) appear minimised for 76% of women

    After 4 weeks**:
    Skin looks less oily
    Pore appearance is minimised
    Imperfections appear visibly reduced
    Skin radiance is improved

*Self-assessment, 62 subjects, evaluation whilst wearing the product.
**Clinical study, 42 subjects, evaluation after 4 weeks.

    How to Use

Smooth Miracle Skin Perfector on to clean skin, as you would your normal moisturiser. To increase coverage, just add another layer.

As far as I saw, it comes in 2 shades - light and medium and costs 9.99GBP.
