New way to Apply Liquid Foundation?! - Vibrating Foundation Applicator!

Twitter & Instagram:  tinaHL82
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/tinaHL82

So, there really are two types of these applicators, the vibrating ones and the patting ones.  The one mentioned in my video is the vibrating applicator, where the sponge vibrates to distribute the foundation.  The patting ones are applicators with fast patting motions, but with end results similar to the vibrating applicators - both work to distribute the liquid foundation/BB cream more evenly, giving an airbrush finish.  The only thing I can seem to compare this to is the Clarisonic cleaning brush, but instead of distributing cleansing foam, the vibrating foundation applicator are designed to spread liquid foundation/BB cream evenly across your skin.

There are many different vibrating foundation applicators out there - just image google vibrating foundation applicator, and a plethora of pictures comes up, but my advice is, if your going to buy one, make sure it gives a vibration count of at least 5000 vibrations per minute.  From what I can deduce from the 'scientific' background is that the more counts per minute the applicator gives, the better the distribution, and the more flawless the foundation will look!  It comes as no surprise that I would also recommend a Korean branded one - after all, it did originate from there!

My personal opinion?!  I do think it's great for everyone to have one of these on their vanity table.  While I personally don't use it/don't need to use it everyday, they are great for special occasions and for days where you need an extra flawless look.  I personally see a difference to how my foundation looks when using the vibrating applicator.  Flawless doesn't even describe it!  My skin looks airbrushed no matter how close to the mirror I get & for days when I'm feeling less confident & a bit self-depriciating the literal perfect makeup always makes me that little bit better!

Alas there's no point having the perfect applicator if you don't have your perfect foundation, after all, there's only so much something can do!  Also make sure you buy a few back up sponges as well, as even though many are advertised as antibacterial, I personally still prefer to wash the sponges constantly as my skin is prone to breakout and waiting for one to dry is a pain.

So just to show you a few vibrating/patting foundation applicators.  By far, the more popular one out there is the Enprani Face Designer Auto Pat:

Enprani are so confident in their auto pat that they package it with their own brand foundation!

TonyMoly are a more affordable Korean Brand and is more basic in design, but works just as well

Mistyle Vibrating Applicator has a swivelling head so easier to get round all the curves of the face

The Haan Digital Foundation applicator is also a popular brand with their kit of foundation & extra heads

So whichever you decide to choose (vibration or pat motion) if you decide to choose any at all, I personally love I have a couple of these at home, and definitely think if your an liquid foundation person, this is a must for days you want airbrushed skin.

BB Cream Review: BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop

Follow me:

Where you can buy BRTC BB creams:
http://www.brtcstore.com/BRTC-Blue-Science.htm

So, I've used this BB Cream for about 2 years now, and nowadays, it's the one I tend to reach for in the winter because of its hydrating effect.  When using this BB Cream, my skin feels moisturised but not too oily throughout the day (though I do powder in the morning, and use blotting sheets during the day).  This BB Cream gives a medium to buildable full coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin.  Those that has dark discolouration around the eyes will probably require an additional concealer, however, those with light discolouration or hyperpigmentation will probably get away without additional concealer.

I have oily/combination skin, and have never broken out due to this BB cream, I always recommend cleansing thoroughly in the evenings!  In general, this BB cream is recommended for those with dry and/or problem skin, but like I said, I tend to use it in the winter and have definately benefited from it!

Things you'll need to be aware of is that it does have a grey cast, however, this does do after about half an hour or so depending on your skin type I guess, and it does oxidise slightly but now heavily so.  So for the shade that this BB Cream gives, standalone, it is suitable for anyone NC-15-20 and lower.  For those that require a darker shade, I would suggest colour correcting it with foundation, which is what I do as on my palest days, I'm NC-25 at best.

Most importantly is that it has an SPF of 28 which is suitable for both summer and especially winter when we tend to forget we still need sunscreen!

Straight out of the tube, the colour can be a bit deceiving, as it looks darker than it actually will be.

Slight blending, a grey cast can be seen and looks alot paler than previous photo, but feels very fresh and moisturising!
Medium to buildable full coverage with a light feel.

As for he science behind this BB Cream, it's best if I leave that to BRTC to explain (taken from http://www.brtcstore.com/brtc/aqua-bb-cream-spf-30):

"This unique formula releases moisture drops to provide ample hydration and help relieve skin sensitiveness for a more vibrant and flawless makeup look, added SPF28/PA**."

It has natural hydrating and moisturising properties, includes anti-oxidant and anti-aging ingredients, and has mineral & nutrition supply made from deep ocean water and 7 flower extracts.

Price:  Approx. 23.00GBP

Review: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

I've always been very skeptical about 'western brand' BB creams as all the ones I've tried have been very disappointing.....still, it hasn't stopped me from carrying on and trying more out!  Next to catch my eye was the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream.  It has been out in the UK for quite a long time now and after um-ing and ahh-ing, I decided to just get it.

"Your 8-in-1 Skin Perfector: Imperfections look blurred, a natural looking glow, fresh feel, compliments skin tone, skin looks smooth, hydrates, protects, oil-free"

In the UK, it comes in four shades: Universal, Light, Medium and Dark.  At the moment, I'm between NC25-NC30 - leaning more towards NC30, and decided to buy the Light shade as for some reason, medium just didn't sit right with me when trying out on my hand in-store.  I'm glad I bought the light shade as it's perfect for me.

It comes out looking a bit pale, however, once applied to the skin, it blends in really well with no grey cast at all.  It also oxidises a bit quite quickly which brought it to my perfect shade, so I didn't have to leave the house looking pale!  As the photo shown below, smoothes and blends out really well.

I have combination/oily skin that leans on the oilier side in the summer, and found that this BB cream works well for my skin.  It didn't totally control my oils, however, even after a full day of wear, I hardly needed to touch nor blot away my oils excessively.  So this is definately one BB cream that is suitable for those with oilier skin.

The coverage is light as is with most 'western brand' BB creams and I'd say it's possible to build slightly to light-medium coverage, however, even without building up, it does a good job blurring out blemishes, then only a light brush of concealer will be needed for darker blemishes.  It hasn't clogged up my pores nor caused any breakouts which is great as most things causes my blemish prone skin to break out!

The formula feels really light and refreshing thanks to its oil-free, water-based gel formula, so definately a great summer BB cream.  Because of the light consistancy, there is no caking, nor does it sit in my fine lines when used under the eye.  And to top it off, it has an SPF 30, which isn't as high as some of the 'eastern brand' BB creams but definately one of the higher ones compared to other 'western brand' BB creams.

So out of all the 'western brand' BB creams I've tried (including Clinique, Dior, MAC, Garnier, collection 2000 etc etc etc), this is top of the list at the moment, however, next up is the L'oreal Nude Magique BB cream, which again, I've been eyeing for quite a while!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream retails for around 9.99 GBP.

NEW! - Garnier BB Miracle Skin Perfector Oil Free For Oily Combination Skin!

I was in Boots today and saw this, so thought I'd spread the word.  Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Garnier BB cream (finding it more a tinted moisturiser than anything near a BB Cream), however, I know many like this BB Cream so thought I'd let you know that they have brought out a new BB Cream for people with oily to combination skin - which I guess is better for the summer season.

Here is what Garnier says about their new BB Cream:

Our Oil Free BB cream blurs pores and imperfections, evens skin tones and boosts your natural glow. Moisturisers and contains SPF 20 for UV protection.
    • Ultra-absorbent perlite + mineral pigments
    • Non comedogenic
    • Oil-free texture
    • Dermatologically tested
Is Miracle Skin Perfector right for me?

Yes, if you have combination to oily skin and are looking for an all-in-one solution that immediately perfects your skin. The lightweight formula does it all; mattifies, reduces the appearance of imperfections, hydrates, evens skin tone, gives a healthy glow and protects with SPF 20.

How is this skin care different?

Miracle Skin Perfector is a B.B. (Blemish Balm) Cream - a next generation skincare product which uses an all-in-one technology. In one step, it combines the benefits of skincare with a light touch of make-up for immediately perfected skin.

    How does it work?
Its unique oil-free formula, with ultra-absorbent perlite is specially designed for oily skin and helps to control shine all day long. It effectively minimises the appearance of pores and imperfections for a visible improvement in skin texture. Enriched with mineral pigments, Miracle Skin Perfector immediately perfects the skin, covering imperfections. Its fluid texture, with an optimal coverage melts perfectly into the skin whilst the SPF 20 filter helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

    Results:

    Immediately*:
B.B. cream gives a radiant matt finish for 88% of women
Pores appear less visible for 84% of women
Imperfections (redness, spots, acne marks...) appear minimised for 76% of women

    After 4 weeks**:
    Skin looks less oily
    Pore appearance is minimised
    Imperfections appear visibly reduced
    Skin radiance is improved

*Self-assessment, 62 subjects, evaluation whilst wearing the product.
**Clinical study, 42 subjects, evaluation after 4 weeks.

    How to Use

Smooth Miracle Skin Perfector on to clean skin, as you would your normal moisturiser. To increase coverage, just add another layer.

As far as I saw, it comes in 2 shades - light and medium and costs 9.99GBP.

    CC Creams......better than BB Creams?!

While BB Creams are hitting the Western market by force this year, CC Creams are making an impact in Asia!

So, what are CC Creams I hear you ask?!  CC Creams, which stands for 'Colour Control', are dubbed as the next generation BB Creams.  They have the existing benefits of a BB Cream - Moisturising, Skin Repair, Anti-aging, Primer, Foundation and SPF.  BUT, CC Creams are more nourishing, offers a better coverage with lighter consistency in a non-oily formula, and offers a darker range of shades!  The light and non-oily formula is great for those with oilier skin (BB Creams tend not to favour those with oily skin types), and help prevent the cream from clogging up pores resulting in fewer breakouts (BB Creams tend to have a heavy consistency with reports of causing breakouts in some!).  And finally, the 'Colour Control' part of the cream gets rid of the grey cast that tends to be popular in most BB Creams.

CC Creams have been on the market for quite a while now, but since Chanel's version of the CC Cream: 'Complete Correction' Cream have been making headlines in the beauty world, CC Creams are now getting more attention.

    CC Creams:

    IFiona CC Cream

    Racheal K CC Cream
The Skin Shop: Iris CC Cream
    Chanel: Completec Correction Cream
I can definately see myself using this cream if what they say about being suitable for the oiler skin type and prevent breakouts is true!  While I can easily get my hands on the Rachel K CC Cream, I may hold out for the Chanel one!

Origins: A Perfect World BB Cream

Credit to http://hope-inablog.blogspot.com/ for the information, check out their site for the latest info. on asian cosmetics and skincare!

Origins A Perfect World BB Cream will be released in the UK, and perhaps launch in other countries after?!

This features a blend of ingredients that deliver multiple perfecting, protecting and hydrating benefits in a lightweight formulation. Benefits include the reduction in the appearance of pores and fine lines, better skin hydration and an improvement in skin’s radiance. The BB Cream is offered in six shades to complement a wide range of skin tones: Light, Light/Medium, Medium, Medium/Deep, Deep and Extra Deep, priced at £27 each. The new A Perfect World BB SPF 15 Age-defense tinted moisturizer with White Tea will be available nationwide from April at Origins retail stores, selected department stores and the brand’s website.

Apparently in Asia, they will be releasing a different BB Cream, this time without using the ‘tinted moisturizer’ on it’s label. Introducing the Origins VitaZing BB Cream from the VitaZing line.

The Origins VITAZING has a moisturizer that becomes slightly tinted once rubbed, so don’t confuse the moisturizer with this BB Cream. They are both totally different products. The Origins VitaZing Moisturizer comes in SPF15, while the Origins VitaZing BB Cream is SPF 35 / PA +++.

The key ingredient is the Mangosteen Energy Complex, which helps optimize cellular energy and limit the release of free radicals helping skin maintain its healthy look. The complex is also coupled with Cordyceps Mushroom and Ginseng to provide an even better anti-aging effect. In addition it also uses Mango Seed Butter, Hyaluronic Acid and Trehalose to provide intense hydration to the skin. Oil-controlling natural ingredients such as Silica and Laminaria Extracts are also included. Other than that Barley and Wheat Germ protects skin from dehydration.

So I can't wait, I love Origins in general and hopefully can get hold of the vitazing one before I leave Hong Kong, and then buy the one in the UK!!  If I manage to try both I shall compare and review!!

Lancome Renergie Eclat Multi Lift - Their Version of BB cream!

LANCOME has new line (UK, europe and USA) called the Lancome Renergie line and within this line, they have a BB Cream called the "Lancome Renergie Eclat Multi Lift". Lancome claims that this is EVEN better than a BB Cream.

    What LANCOME Claims:
Instant lifting-effect and illuminating tinted skincare

More than a BB cream, a new generation of multi-function tinted skincare to moisturize, lift and instantly even skin tone.

    Beyond lifting, instant skin illumination.

Lancôme creates its 1st lifting and color-correcting skincare enriched with Multi-Tension technology.

    Multi-Action Rejuvenating Effect:
    • Skin feels firmer and denser, as if lifted. Wrinkles appear reduced, and skin’s texture feels smoother.
    • This tinted formula blends effortlessly to instantly illuminate, give a more even skin tone and improve skin’s radiance.

Smooth and tightened, skin visibly catches the light.

Available in 4 universal shades to awaken dull complexions and tone down redness.
Our 1st multi-action tinted skincare that rejuvenates skin’s appearance: skin’s density, texture and tone is enhanced.

    Innovation from Lancôme laboratories:

    1. Lifting and Firming: Enriched with Multi-Tension technology designed to target the upper layers of the skin.*

    2. Color-Correction: As we age, skin loses its natural, youthful color and each skin tone evolves differently. Our color specialists have developed the Bio-chromatic technology to even out the complexion, allow skin to capture light and correct color changes due to aging.
Rénergie Éclat is available in 4 shades for all skin tones, from fair to deep:
    • Fair/Rosy skin: Shade 1 tones down redness.
    • Fair/Beige skin: Shade 2 calms yellowing.
    • Golden/Beige skin: Shade 3 illuminates olive tones.
    • Golden/Dark skin: Shade 4 awakens grey tones.

More than a BB cream, Rénergie Éclat Multi-Lift delivers instant lifting and color correction, restoring the contour and color of a youthful complexion.

A few thing to point out though is that its' claims of being more than a BB cream because it "moisturises, lift and instantly even skin tone" - however, isn't this the same as most if not all BB creams out there?  So where is the 'more'???  Their 'multi-action rejuvenating effect' is nothing new to BB creams is it?  Have I misunderstood something or does Lancome's research team need to do more research?!
